Winter tyres must be fitted in sets of four. Fitting only 2 will significantly affect the balance and stability of the car. If you just fit winters tyres on the back of a rear wheel drive car, it will provide grip to get going but not having them on the front will generally cause snaking during acceleration and especially during braking.
